RFID system at Polytechnic University Hospital "La Fe" in Valencia, finalist at IT Awards 2012 in Brussels
The innovative system to guarantee clinical safety and to locate and track patients and assets awarded as fifth position.
Brussels, Belgium, 20th January 2012.- The system of the Hospital La FE in Valencia  which includes the supply, installation, configuration, implementation and maintenance of RFID system for location, monitoring and traceability has been awarded as fifth position in the IT "Networking Awards 2012.
The Global Healthcare IT and Medical Technology Competition took place on 18th -19th January 2012 in the General Secretariat of EAHM, Clinique St-Jean, Brussels, with more than 17 final candidates. Â Serafin Arroyo, on behalf of Polytechnic University Hospital "La Fe", presented "An innovative system to guarantee patient safety and clinical management efficiency".
The importance of the system lies in the autonomy offered for nursing carts, allowing the automatic secure identification of patient bedside, obtaining and including all data on its clinical records in real time, as well as patient´s and assets location and traceability. "This project saves time on daily tasks that do not add value, minimizes errors, saves cost, and collects data automatically, being integrated with the Hospital Information System". - said Ms. Pilar Raro, Information Systems Department Polytechnic University Hospital "La Fe" in Valencia
Serafin Arroyo, Commercial and Marketing director at TSB commented: "With more than 50 candidates worldwide, it was a pleasure to represent the hospital and this project. This award is a high recognition for the hospital as one of the most advance health centers in Europe regarding adoption of e-health technologies."
